Centre of Artificial Intelligence for Future Industry (CAIFI), a joint effort by MIMOS and Microsoft, was officially launched by International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Darell Leiking on Oct 30 at the Industry4WRD Summit 2019. The summit was held in conjunction with the one-year implementation of the National Policy on Industry 4.0.
CAIFI, which had been in existence at MIMOS since March this year, was aimed at establishing an Artificial Intelligence (AI) ecosystem for Malaysian industry to move into Industry 4.0. It would assist industries in creating and sustaining higher value using AI; and how they can get started.
The minister said industry players should increase mechanisation and automation to enhance productivity in line with Industry 4.0.
An ongoing initiative under CAIFI is the Smart Manufacturing Intelligent Service Platform (SMISP) – an Operational Technology and Information Technology shared services infrastructure that enables the adoption of Industry 4.0 technologies such as AI, Big Data Analytics, Internet of Things and Augmented Reality, with the aim of enhancing capabilities and improving productivity.
