Enabling Industry 4.0 through TVET

The ‘Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR): Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) as an Enabler for Industry 4.0’ seminar organised by MIMOS went out on a high note as it had successfully attracted hundreds of participants from government agencies and industries.

Held on Aug 9, the seminar which aimed at gaining better understanding on the new Government directions, industry expectations and institutions’ capacity with regard to TVET saw full house at MIMOS’ Tengku Dr Mohd Azzman Shariffadeen Auditorium.

The seminar was also organised to bring together the wealth of experience and to create awareness among local TVET players on the expertise and opportunities available towards producing quality and employable graduates. It was also to ensure a sufficient pool of competent talents as we embrace the 4th Industrial Revolution.

The keynote speech was delivered by Higher Education Deputy Secretary-General (Management) Dato’ Kamel Mohamad and the seminar was later closed by Head of TVET Empowerment Committee Nurul Izzah Anwar.

Nurul Izzah has called on MIMOS to lead in curriculum development to boost TVET in view of the new revolution, which was well-received by MIMOS chief executive officer Ahmad Rizan Ibrahim, saying that the company welcomed the idea.

Nurul Izzah said there was an urgent need for the relevant agencies and industry players to lead, or at least participate actively, in curriculum development to improve programme quality and graduate employability.
