MIMOS Bhd has signed a US$10 million (RM30.7 million) deal with Kazakhstan’s The Kazakh Research Institute of Information Technologies to establish a centre of excellence on cloud computing. Location of the project was not disclosed.
Cloud computing is the delivery of computing as a service rather than a product, whereby shared resources, software and information are provided to computers and other devices as a utility (like the electricity grid) over a network (typically the Internet).
In a statement yesterday, MIMOS, or Malaysian Institute of Microelectronic Systems, said it will establish a jointventure entity to access the Kazakh commercial market for the next three years.
