The Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MOSTI) is strengthening Malaysia’s semiconductor industry through a partnership with Xiamen University (XMU) and General Mathematical-Physics Technology Co., Ltd. (GMPT) Software. XMU donated USD 2 million worth of semiconductor simulation software to MIMOS Berhad, enhancing R&D capabilities and talent development.
To maximise its impact, MIMOS will house and manage the software through its Industry Technology Innovation Centre (ITIC) and MIMOS Academy, ensuring accessibility for researchers, industry players, and academic institutions. The software will be available at MIMOS, with online training sessions facilitating seamless adoption by local talent and professionals.
Minister of MOSTI, YB Tuan Chang Lih Kang praised the partnership’s potential to boost Malaysia’s position in the global semiconductor supply chain. The initiative aligns with MOSTI’s vision to establish Malaysia as a leader in semiconductor R&D.
