PUTRAJAYA, 29 April 2024 – The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) Minister, YB Tuan Chang Lih Kang launched MIMOS Technology Preview 2024 at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC) today.
The MIMOS Technology Preview 2024 was organised to create opportunities for MIMOS to highlight its technology offerings stemming from its research and development activities which are ready for commercialisation. This event is also a platform for MIMOS to meet and interact with industry players and other researchers creating potential research and business collaborations. MIMOS serves as a bridge between technological research and its practical application in industry which ultimately enhances the industry and the life of every Malaysian.
At this Technology Preview, MIMOS introduced several innovations aimed at making Malaysia more sustainable and technologically advanced. Highlighting new solutions like the MIMOS Autonomous Chiller Control & Energy Efficiency (Mi-ACE) system, MIMOS is actively contributing to Malaysia’s vision of becoming a green, technology-driven and globally competitive nation.
During the event, MIMOS is excited to share its new partnerships with industry partners, AXICOM, iSCADA NET and SquareCloud Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. for the Mi-ACE, with Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) document exchanges with AXICOM and iSCADA NET and a Technology License Agreement (TLA) document exchange with SquareCloud. YB Minister Tuan Chang Lih Kang witnessed the document exchanges and said, “This project is a big step to drive Malaysia towards a high-tech nation, as a result of the collaboration of various stakeholders to create a sustainable future.”
He added, “By bringing to light the advanced technologies developed through rigorous research and development, the MIMOS Technology Preview acts as a testament to the Government’s commitment to fostering innovation and paving the way towards a green future. These technologies are key to driving economic growth, enhancing the sustainability of national industries, and ensuring Malaysia’s competitiveness on the global stage.”
MIMOS Acting President and Chief Executive Officer, Dr Saat Shukri Embong in his Welcome Address reiterated MIMOS’ commitment to developing the Technology industry, “MIMOS intends to bring technological innovation to the market faster to benefit local technology industry players and strengthen the national economy. This step is expected to drive Malaysia towards a high-income country driven by technological innovation and digitisation.”
The MIMOS Autonomous Chiller Control & Energy Efficiency (Mi-ACE) system, developed in partnership with Square Cloud and utilising AI and IoT technology, transforms cooling systems in buildings ranging from offices to public spaces. This system simplifies installation and significantly enhances building energy management. In collaboration with AXICOM and iSCADA NET, MIMOS aims to deploy this technology in government and business buildings to promote energy efficiency and cost savings. Mi-ACE improves chiller performance, achieving energy savings of 12 to 20% by analysing sensor data to optimise operations while ensuring comfort. The system is also non-intrusive and integrates smoothly with existing infrastructure, requiring minimal additional hardware.
AxiCom is proud to collaborate with MIMOS, “AxiCom collaborates with MIMOS to introduce innovative services that promote energy conservation and cost reduction while aligning with eco-friendly objectives. The AxiCom Smart Connectivity suite, leveraging NLOS and LOS technologies, enhances the overall value of the final product, marking a significant advancement in the industry.”
iSCADA Net is proud of its partnership with MIMOS, marking a significant stride in redefining technology, safety, and environmental sustainability, “This partnership with MIMOS reflects iSCADA NET’s leadership in IoT and our commitment to harnessing technology for global betterment. Together, we’re not just pioneering advancements, we’re fostering a safer, smarter, and more sustainable world.”
According to SquareCloud, collaboration is the cornerstone of innovation in today’s fast-paced world, “This partnership emphasises sustainability and aligns with government goals for carbon neutrality. By leveraging wireless technology and data insights, we aim to reduce energy consumption and environmental impact, striving for net-zero emissions. This collaboration sets new standards for environmental responsibility and innovation, showcasing the power of partnership in creating a sustainable future.”
