Creating a safe workplace is everyone’s responsibility; don’t let forgetfulness, negligence, or carelessness put your workplace at risk. On 13 January 2025, the Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) at MIMOS organised a fire safety campaign focusing on the critical role of vigilance and proactive measures to mitigate potential hazards.
Led by Ms. Nur Nabila Huda Khairudin from the Kuala Lumpur-FIRE Preventors’ Society, the campaign empowered participants to take control of fire safety by raising awareness around the ‘3L’ concept – Lupa (Forgetful), Lalai (Negligent), and Leka (Careless) – highlighting common human errors that can lead to fires.
Key topics covered included:
- Raising awareness about modern fires, which pose a higher likelihood due to the advancements in technology and synthetic materials.
- Stressing the importance of having fire extinguishers, such as a 1kg fire extinguisher in every personal car for quick action during emergencies.
- Educating participants on the need for Pressure Relief Valve (PRV) in fire extinguishers to prevent bursting.
- Suggesting the implementation of smoke detectors in households as a vital first control measure for fire safety.
By understanding these 3Ls and their consequences, individuals can learn practical steps to prevent fires and ensure a safe workplace for everyone.
