Malaysia is poised to become a regional hub for the semiconductor industry, thanks to strategic collaborations with Brazil. This was announced by the Minister of Investment, Trade, and Industry, Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz on 18 November 2024 at the Malaysia-Brazil Semiconductor Industry Meeting in conjunction with the working visit of PMX to Rio De Janeiro, Brazil.
The collaboration, which involves key players like MIMOS Berhad and industry associations from both countries, aims to strengthen the semiconductor value chain in Malaysia. This partnership will focus on areas such as semiconductor design, manufacturing, and testing.
Dr. Saat Shukri Embong, CEO of MIMOS Berhad, along with industry leaders from both Malaysia and Brazil, attended the announcement.
This collaboration signifies a significant step forward for Malaysia’s semiconductor industry, positioning the country as a global leader in semiconductor technology and innovation.
