The 10th Prime Minister of Malaysia (PMX), YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, delivered the keynote address at the “Hari Pekerja 2024”. This year's celebration was particularly momentous, with 12 prestigious awards presented to outstanding employees, employers, unions, and media, recognising their exceptional contributions to the workforce.

Taiwan-based Phison Electronics Corporation launches Malaysia AI Storage (MaiStorage) at the KL20 Summit aiming to revolutionise the tech sector with RM1 billion investment and talent cultivation. MaiStorage’s establishment is backed by a formidable alliance between Phison and Malaysian institutions, particularly MIMOS.   

The MIMOS Q2 Town Hall session was fruitful in bringing together our dedicated team for an engaging and informative event. Held in May, the session was led by our Acting President and CEO, Dr Saat Shukri Embong, who provided a comprehensive overview of our achievements and progress in the second quarter.

The MY-AI Portal launch is an important initiative, as it is the first national online platform dedicated to resources and related issue to AI.

In May, a productive and promising bilateral meeting unfolded between Malaysia and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia – YB Tuan Chang Lih Kang, Malaysia's Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MOSTI), engaged in discussions with His Excellency Dr Majid Bin Abdullah Al-Kassabi, Saudi Arabia's Minister of Trade.

YB Tuan Chang Lih Kang, the Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MOSTI) officiated the International Invention, Innovation & Technology Exhibition (ITEX) 2024, held on 16 & 17 May 2024, at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC), attended by nearly 700 companies and organisations from 15 Asian countries.

It was an exciting period at MIMOS with several significant events and collaborations taking place. A visit by the Ambassador of Brazil to Malaysia, His Excellency (H.E.) Ary Norton de Murat Quintella, to MIMOS was a momentous occasion aimed at exploring potential collaborations between Brazil and Malaysia in the field of technology and innovation.

Recently, MIMOS hosted two impactful events that highlighted our commitment to innovation and collaboration. The first event, Empowering Government Services through Digital ID and Data Exchange, featured expert presenters from MIMOS Berhad and Protean eGov Technologies Ltd. India.

Thursday, 4th April transcended the usual workday at MIMOS – as it was a day enriched with profound discussions as Ir Dr Nordin Ramli engaged with industry and university experts as part of our esteemed Tech Advisory and Advocacy Team. These influential minds play a pivotal role in shaping the direction of innovation, ensuring it not only advances technological frontiers but also serves the broader interests of society.

At April’s installation of Tech Cafe, En Muhammad Hafiz Laili delivered an awe-inspiring presentation on GPT and AI Tools that left MIMOSians amazed! His expertise propelled our research skills to unprecedented heights, taking us from zero to hero in understanding these advanced technologies.

The MIMOS team had the pleasure of attending Tea Talk 4.0 led by the National Technology & Innovation Sandbox (NTIS) – an opportunity to interact with industry leaders, innovators, and passionate entrepreneurs. The event was an incredible opportunity to share insights, exchange ideas, and explore potential collaborations.

This quarter, MIMOS conducted a series of impactful training sessions and workshops, reflecting our commitment to advancing skills and knowledge across various domains. Firstly, we held the MIMOS Industrial Design & UIUX Workshop at UniKL MIDI, where participants gained insights into the latest trends and techniques in industrial design and user interface/user experience.

At MIMOS, we firmly believe that our vendors play a pivotal role in our growth and success, which is why we were thrilled to host an Anti-Bribery Management System Awareness Session for our valued business associates and vendors. With about 40 participants in attendance, the session was a great success!

At MIMOS, we are dedicated to the belief that knowledge is power and committed to sharing it widely. We are excited to introduce our Research Colloquium forum, a dynamic platform where our talented researchers come together to share their expertise, experiences, and groundbreaking work.

In an era defined by rapid technological progress, our seminar titled, Innovating the Future: Strategic High-Impact R&D for National Growth, delved into crucial strategies and innovative approaches essential for impactful Research and Development (R&D) programmes.

June's Tech Cafe session exceeded all expectations! We were thrilled by the captivating discussion led by our esteemed speaker, En Basrihuddin Hasan, and the enthusiastic audience. His presentation titled, Industry Players' Perspective: Fitting Geospatial & Digital Twin in the Market was profoundly insightful and inspiring.

Malaysia and China have teamed up to take research and innovation to the next level through a dynamic collaboration spanning a wide range of critical areas – from energy storage solutions to human vaccines, promising groundbreaking advancements that will have a significant impact globally.

In the spirit of Ramadan, several MIMOSians took time away from their daily work schedules to participate in fulfilling Zakat Fitrah, a fundamental practice that involves giving a specified amount of food or its equivalent value to the less fortunate before celebrating Hari Raya Aidil Fitri.

In mid-April, a delightful celebration unfolded at Tadika MIMOS as the young ones showcased their exceptional talents during Hari Raya festivities, much to the joy of their proud parents and teachers. The event featured a diverse array of performances, including traditional dances and heartfelt renditions.

MIMOS joyfully celebrated Hari Raya with a spirit of camaraderie at both our Bukit Jalil and Kulim High-Tech Park locations! In Bukit Jalil, our staff gathered for a joyous event filled with laughter, cheer, and delicious food. Despite its simplicity, the event radiated togetherness as our talented staff showcased their performances and talents.

A special doa selamat and doa hajat ceremony was held for MIMOS Berhad employees who will be embarking on their journey to Mecca to perform the Hajj. This meaningful event was organised to offer blessings and prayers for our colleagues, ensuring their pilgrimage is safe, spiritually fulfilling, and blessed with good health and divine guidance.

In early April, the MyDigital ID Team organised an iftar gathering with members of the media –to express gratitude for their unwavering support and collaboration. We were honoured to have members from the broadcast media, print media, and bloggers make time for us in their busy schedules for this special occasion.

MIMOS is thrilled to unveil an exciting new wellness initiative beginning May 2024: the MIMOS Muscular Exercise Sessions! These invigorating workouts take place every Tuesday at 5PM, offering a quick 45-minute burst of physical activity designed to get hearts racing, spirits soaring, and faces smiling.

MIMOS bids farewell with a mix of emotions to three esteemed members who have been integral to our MIMOS family. Their retirement marks a moment of joy for their well-deserved rest and sadness for their departure. As we celebrate their years of service, we reflect on the profound impact they have made on our organisation and our lives.

MIMOS Team B secured the 1st Runner-Up position at the second MOSTI Futsal Piala Pusingan STI championship held in June 2024 at KSL Puchong, Selangor. The finals were launched by YBhg. Datuk Wira Dr Hj Rais Hussin, President and Chief Executive Officer of MRANTI, along with YBrs. Mr Abdullah bin Daud, Secretary of the Culture and Services Division of STI MOSTI.
