MIMOS and MPM collaborate on Fibre Optic Sensor Technology workshop

MIMOS Berhad, in partnership with the Malaysian Petroleum Management (MPM), hosted a workshop from 22 to 23 October 2024 on fibre optic sensor technology for the oil and gas industry. The workshop brought together industry experts, researchers, and engineers to discuss the latest advancements in fibre optic sensing and its applications in the sector.

Key topics covered during the workshop included:

  • Fundamentals of Fibre Optic Sensors: A comprehensive overview of the principles and working mechanisms of fibre optic sensors.
  • Fibre Optic Sensor Applications in Oil and Gas: Exploring the use of fibre optic sensors for monitoring various parameters, such as temperature, pressure, strain, and vibration.
  • Advanced Sensing Techniques: Discussing emerging technologies like distributed fiber optic sensing (DFOS) and Raman spectroscopy.
  • Real-world Case Studies: Sharing practical examples of successful fibre optic sensor deployments in the oil and gas industry.

Working together with industry leaders like MPM, helps MIMOS accelerate the adoption of advanced technologies and drive innovation in the oil and gas sector. Through such workshops, MIMOS continues to strengthen its position as a leading research and development organisation in Malaysia.
